This section is designed for Alaska residents on vacation outside of Alaska. If you are Active Duty Military or an Alaska resident attending College outside of Alaska, please click on the appropriate link for further information: MILITARY or COLLEGE STUDENT
Following are the current options for you to renew your registration (vehicle, snow vehicle, ATV, or trailer). Please begin the process early, if possible, so that you will be assured that you have the new registration before the current registration expiration date. All registrations expire on the LAST day of the registration month.
Please be aware that these procedures do NOT apply to boats. Boats must be registered in the state of primary use.
Be sure to update the ADDRESS on the previous registration or provide it in a letter so that we will know where to mail your registration.
Currently Outside Alaska on Vacation:
- Make a copy of your last registration OR complete a Vehicle Transaction Application OR send a letter requesting to renew. Include the license plate number and description of the vehicle in your letter.
- Personalized check or money order. Click here for current Fees
- Provide a self-addressed envelope or a cover letter advising where you would like the registration and tab mailed to.
Be sure to update the ADDRESS on the previous registration or provide it in a letter so that we will know where to mail your registration.
