IT APPEARING THAT:

1.	ARCO Alaska, Inc. submitted an application dated September 26, 1997 requesting 
exception to the well spacing provisions of Title 20 AAC 25.055 (1) to allow drilling 
of the ARCO Warthog No. 1, exploration oil well to an undefined oil pool, to a 
bottom-hole location which is within 500 feet of a quarter section line within Camden 
Bay in the Beaufort Sea.

2.	Notice of opportunity for public hearing was published in the Anchorage Daily News 
on October 1, 1997 pursuant to 20 AAC 25.540.

3.	No protests to the application were received.

FINDINGS:

1.	The Warthog No. 1 exploration oil well will be drilled as a deviated hole from a 
surface location of 70? 02’ 34.29” N Latitude, and 144? 55’ 2.30” W Longitude in the 
Outer Continental Shelf to a bottomhole location of 2384 feet from the south line and 
853 feet from the east line of Section 20, Township 8 North and Range 29 East Umiat 
Meridian.

2.	ARCO is the sole working interest owner of the subject and all offsetting drilling units.

3.	An exception to the well spacing provisions of Title 20 AAC 25.055 (1) is necessary 
to allow the drilling of this well.




CONCLUSION:

Granting a spacing exception to allow drilling of the ARCO Warthog No. 1 well will not 
result in waste nor jeopardize correlative rights.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED:

ARCO Alaska, Inc.’s application for exception to the well spacing provisions of Title 20 
AAC 25.055 (1) for the purpose of drilling the ARCO Warthog No. 1 is approved.
